Seven Lakes Of Lekhnath

Begnas Lake
Begnas Lake is the  largest lake of Lekhnath. Tucked away at an altitude of 650 meters, this lake is located in the Siswa village on the eastern part of Pokhara and is 13 km away from the city of Pokhara. Spread across a total area of 3 square km, the lake has a capacity of 29.05 million cubic meters. Average water depth of the lake is 9.37 meters and the maximum water depth is 13.84 meters. The northern and western parts of the Begnas Lake are relatively deeper than the eastern and southern parts.


Rupa Lake

Rupa lake is the most exciting and magical lake in Lekhnath. This lake is located about 15 km from Pokhara towards the end of the road which turns to the north from the highway that leads to Kathmandu. A small hill, Panchabhaiya Danda, divide this lake and provides a natural scenic beauty in secluded surroundings. Fishing and boating activities can be done here.





Dipang Lake

Dipang Lake is the third largest lake of the Lekhnath town. This lake is situated in Lekhnath municipality ward no.6. This lake is in 562 meter height from the sea level. Its area is 32.4320 hector. depth of this lake is 3-5 meter. This lake is situated between green hills. This lake is originated from the Seti River.The name of the lake "DIPANG" is considered as named by the magars. They were the inhabitants of the lake area. In magar language "Di" means water and "Pang" means to know. We can know that from researchers and supervisors that in this way ,name of the lake is named. This lake is situated in beautiful and peaceful environment


Khaste Lake

Khaste Lake is located in Ward No Lekhnath 3, 4 &6. The total area is 24.8030 hector and water area is 13.7370 hector. Fish farming have been conducted in this lake since some years. The area is also known as ‘Bird Wetland’ or the lake is known to be bird watching lake as the Siberian, Indian and Afghani birds come here to protect themselves from cold. This area can be the famous research Centre for the birds of different types






Gunde Lake

Gunde Lake is situated at 2km northern side from Arghaun Chowk. The total area is 13.57 hector.






Maidi Lake

Before reaching Begnas lake moving few distance apart from mohoriya tole to northern side we can reach Maidi Lake. The lake is surrounded by chilaune and katus forests from three direction. The lake is surrounded by farming land on western side. The total area of this lake is 1.17 hector.






Nureni Lake

Nureni Lake is the smallest lake of Lekhnath Municipality. The total area is 2.830 hector. Nureni Lake is almost turning into plain land these days.
